About the model The Hardtop body style was one of three available for the Base 1967-1968 First Generation Ford Mustang.
Alongside the Fastback and Convertible body styles, the Hardtop was available with a variety of engines, both inline six and V8s.
The top engine offering was Ford's new S-code 390 cubic inch (6.
4L) 'FE' big block V8 engine, which had an output of 320hp.
Notably, the A-code and the K-code 289 V8s were only offered for the 1967 model year, while the F-code and J-code 302 V8s were only available for 1968.
These engines were available with three transmissions:
a 3-speed manual, a 4-speed manual, or a 3-speed automatic, all of which sent drive to the rear wheels.
The Base Model 1967-1968 Ford Mustang Hardtop was replaced when Ford introduced the 1969-1970 First Generation Ford Mustang.
